The GoWest Heritage Knights are committed to sharing local history and heritage with children, their teacher families and friends and need information to do this. The work is ongoing.
GoWest was given a massive boost in 2005 when it was awarded £50k from the National Heritage Lottery Fund for its Stories from the Stones pilot. Volunteers started to discover and present their local stories and audio listening post were developed and put into six Teme Valley churches. Tourists and visitors could switch them on and discover more about the place they were visiting. Today the heritage knights are working with smart phone technology! But we still need stories of place and people.
The Stories from the Stones pilot developed a research methodology and a toolbox of resources for heritage detectives. Developing activities and information for heritage detectives is now a major activity. The project has grown and involves new areas, the need for information grows! If your parish would like to get involved with this project please do contact us, you may be able to help.
