Find out more about Heritage Quests in the Teme Valley
Heritage Quests were first developed for parishes in the Teme Valley as part of the Go West Teme Valley project. They were an outcome of the Stories from the Stones pilot, a project funded by the National Heritage Lottery Fund. The project engaged more than 100 volunteers and took place between 2005 and 2007.
Once you have learned the skills of the Heritage Detective you will find your self using them everywhere you go. The valley of the River Teme is a very beautiful area in the west of England and well worth a detectives visit, its an area full of old churches, castle ruins and stories simmering just beneath the surface!
In the early 13th century Arthur de Caldicot, now Sir Arthur, inherited the Manor of Caldicot right by the River Teme just outside Knighton on the Welsh border. Arthur of course was a fictional character created by Kevin Crossley-Holland, author of the Arthur Trilogy published Orion books. The world so carefully created in these books stimulates our imagination today and makes it easier to hear the stories......in the stones.
The Go West Teme Valley web site has been set up to help you make the most of your visit.
